we don't work

I couldn't find the exact font replicated in these works, but they are sans-serif with Humanist, Geometric, and Neo-Gothic elements. The typography is most likely not inspired by a specific typeface, but adapted to the medium.

The images above are a series from German designers Max Kuwertz and Yanik Blazer. They both showcase the same phrase: "we don't work - we play", but each designer have put their own spin on the representation. The image on the left is the phrase spelled out in coloured pencils dangling from the ceiling, while the second shows the phrase spelled out with lit and unlit matches. The audience is art enthusiasts or typography lovers and these works were displayed at a self-initiated exhibition.

Both methods of displaying the same sentence both work to give a new meaning to the phrase and elevate it to the work itself, but in different ways. They took the playfulness implied in the message and showed it in the medium they've chosen.

This will influence my work as it will inspire me to work off the computer and use more tactile methods to display messages. Although we usually think of typography as digitally typed words, there are much more ways to showcase typography as Kuwertz and Blazer display in their exhibition.
