Serigraphy

These images are from the artist book by Julie Doucet presented in the reading room (#27) of the BAnQ Rosemont La Petite-Patrie. This 2010 book is called Der Stein nr.1 /nr.4 /nr.9. The fonts used in this book are very different from one page to another and some spreads only contain illustrations. In the spread I chose in this picture, the artist uses a sans-serif font in the color blue. Unfortunately, I am not quite sure which specific font is used in these pages. The artist plays with the size of the font to emphasize certain words. This technique really enhances the playfulness of the illustrations. The use of vibrant colors for the font and the illustrations grabbed my attention. This text and the images were printed on the page with the screen printing technique.

This book will influence my work because it is a great example of a clever way to mix images and text. Indeed, the artist uses typography  in a playful way. The colors are striking and the disposition of the letters makes the reading captivating.
