Ex-Libris
The typeface used is similar to the serif typeface LTC Goudy Oldstyle Small Caps.
This is an identifier found at the beginning of Choquette and Holgate's Metropolitan Museum in the cover. An ex-libris is a label used to indicate ownership; this copy of the Metropolitan Museum must have once belonged to a "Gabriel Nadeau". I think it is printed by means of a linocut, although I can't be sure.
The typography is simple and straight to the point and is indicative of the time period the ex-libris is from.
I chose this mainly because I didn't know that an ex-libris even existed; I did know there must have been ways to indicate ownership over your collection of books but I didn't expect it to be so decorative as well as declarative. It will influence my own work because it shows that even a small label can be dramatic and eye-catching.
