Amour Sans Protection Zine

This zine named Amour Sans Protection is a scrappy yet beautiful compilation of concept, material exploration, and typography. The color and forms are what caught my eye, and the type only deepened my curiosity of what was to be revealed in the consecutive pages. The cover of the book was hard, while inside, the pages were made of a soft material, similar to felt. A random collection of display fonts are used to create a cacophony that draws the reader in and is complemented with a light typewriter font, perhaps Courier M.
While I am not fluent in French, the expressive type held my attention throughout the zine, and language and reading became a secondary aspect to the energy on each page. The pages also have an interesting element of stitching. The entire zine is compiled in quite a successful manner and each material enhances the message of the book, from the transparency of the pages to the choice of typography and imagery.
I would like to take back with me the intense experimentation with typography and exploration of materials. The pages too, open in different directions, breaking standard norms at every point. A mixed media zine is more appealing to me than one that is merely printed because touching different textures as we go through a zine almost stimulates the mind and pushes us to look further.
