« Allee der Kosmonauten »

This publication created a feeling (We Designers do not think, we feel!) of homesickness because I know the street «Allee der Kosmonauten» from the picture. It is a very problematic area — for me, it created an emotional relationship with the photographs found in the trash. Photographs and pictures are very private and very personal — these are things that don’t belong in the trash. So I asked myself: «What happened that they threw the pictures away?».

All these faces tell a story in a way and in combination with the illustrations it creates a fantasy world. It almost seems not real. The Typography is used very thrifty and very careful. The left-justified text is not too intrusive and it creates a symbiosis with the pictures and/or illustrations. In between are blank pages. The font used is transitional. I can’t really tell which font but it looks like a Baskerville. The book is in portrait format and some pages are folded with a height of about 20 cm.

This example will influence my work because of the text-picture/illustration relation. I like the use of white space and the minimalistic use of text. Pictures are in general very personal. In the white space, they have enough room to tell their stories.
