Shots in the Dark

This is a photography book about crime photography in American history. What is interesting about this book is that it divides its photographs by subject such as, "crime scene", "killers", "gangsters" and more. Since this book has explicit content, the target audience is most likely aimed towards adults.
The typeface used for the title of this book cover is Zurich Condensed Bold, which is part of the grotesque sans serif style.
What attracted me to this book was definitely its book cover due to its vibrant red and white title. It adds a striking contrast to the black and white photograph on the book cover, and the colour also defines the tone of the content. While its typeface is quite simple, I find that it does not conflict with the image which already attracts a lot of attention.
I would like to incorporate colour in my typographic works, and by observing this book cover, I have learned that a design that has a powerful image or graphic element does not need ornate or fancy typefaces as they would probably clash with imagery. However, a good choice of colour can also enhance a simple or basic type.
