Marketing: An Introduction
The 6th edition of Marketing: An Introduction designed by Anthony Leung was published in 2016. This is a textbook made for an introductory class on marketing, covering the basics of marketing.
The typeface used in this book is a thin (humanist) sans serif. The designer played with boldness and color to differentiate parts of the text. The grid system used in this book is a simple three column. the text fits in two out of the 3 columns and the last column (found on the outside of the page) is used for either photographs or definitions. Every page is similar yet different. The text is quite a heavy read, therefore, the photographs are placed in a way to lighten the reading (in opinion). As mentioned above, playing with boldness and color (for titles and subtitles) makes it optimal and easy to find and read wanted parts. My only critique would be to have more than just three columns, the layout because repetitive and boring. The designers could have used five or even seven to have more room for variety.
This book will influence my work to allow me to have a more interesting layout (i used five columns instead of three). I will also see if boldness and color can help me differentiate my text rather than just separating the text.
