Line Park Anniversary Catalogue 2017–2018

The «Line Park Anniversary Catalogue 2017–2018» is a compilation by the Chinese design agency «Transwhite». It shows designed objects from the famous designer from the last years, for example, Mies van der Roh or Charles and Ray Eames. Its cover is using the names of the designers with small pictures of the most characteristic object they designed/built (chairs and fauteuils). It is a white book cover but as an accent, the book has a plastic jacket in different bright colors (in the book/catalog are plastic pages as well).

I found this book while surfing through Instagram and I definitely catched my eye. The font used is called Favorit Lining by Fabian Harb and Johannes Breyer from 2015. It is a very contemporary, extraordinary and modern font. It does not appear as overloaded with all the information and it creates a visible grid on the book cover. It is clear and orderly. The font goes very well with the Chinese characters in this publication. For longer text, however, the font would be inappropriate.

I like the exaggerated use of the font on the book cover. Especially in combination with different materials, it looks very aesthetic. I especially like the mix of materials. It will affect my future work because it is very timely. My rule: Mix materials (paper and plastic) to make the feeling of the book like an experience. It will make it more memorable.
