From Nintendo's game : Zelda Breath of the Wild

The typeface used is a custom font made by/for Nintendo's Zelda created for this game, called "Hylia Serif". It's a variation of an older similar typeface used in previous games called "Triforce".

This is the title screen for the latest Zelda game in the series. I chose the Japanese title screen (above) rather than the English (below) because it was more "alive" and "warm" compared to the western one. It feels like it aged because of time and as if it lived by itself. It is has mature themes for the older fans of the series and relate to the "aged" look of the typeface.

The layout and used of the text in this title screen was referred a lot to studio ghibli's film and how it evokes a certain kind of serenity. The game is calm and has a soothing atmosphere that reminds us of certain film by the Japanese studio.

It is a perfect example of how typefaces and still graphic elements can perfectly reflect a mood or a story and this is how it will influence my work.
