Danse, Danse, Danse by Haruki Murakami
This book cover was designed by Virginie Perrollaz. Danse, Danse, Danse is a book written by Haruki Murakami, a contemporary Japanese author who writes surrealistic and fatalistic novels. The publisher is Éditions du Seuil. This book cover has a transparent sleeve that has bright orange stripes on it. Because of the superposition of the different layers, I find this book cover very intricate. The typeface used for this cover is a sans-serif font. I am not quite sure what specific font is used, but it is similar to Arial. On the front cover, the letters have a striped pattern and they overlap. The background is simple and white. The spine is very elegant and contains of the name of the author and the title centered on a white background. This book is part of a trilogy and each novel has a different color for the sleeve. The design of the cover of these three novels enhances the idea of continuity.
This book cover will influence my work because it is a great example of a cover that visually enhances the message of the book in a subtle way. Indeed, the colors and the disposition of the letters remind the reader of the surrealist storyline of the novel.
