Buckminster Fuller interview with Playboy (1972) |
The typeface used here is simply Times New Roman. It is a serif font, with mixed classification of Old Style and Transitional, according to Wikipedia. The object is an excerpt of an interview with architect and designer R. Buckminster Fuller in Playboy magazine. The audience is presumably men.
The interview is particularly lengthy, but I picked the first page which features images of the interviewed. The structure of the article is composed of a simple two column grid. It gives the article a solid look and neutral temperament. The title is somewhat off-putting; I don't like how it's centered and bold, while the whole article is straight, justified and fills the whole columns. However, the amount allocated for the margins is comfortable and the gutter between columns distributes the content nicely. The font choice is quite banal but it does allow for Crystal Gobelet immersion. As for my own work, the running head and foot in italic is a proper choice, and I like the division with the separator. I tend not to think to include them. But I'm not sure I like the way the 3 images sit atop 2 columns. It feels asymmetrical in an unflattering way.
