The typeface used in this book is a serif font possibly Times New Roman or a variation of it.
The book I chose, the Illiad By Homer and translated by Robert Fagles, is a classic tale of adventure, quite popular in various academic fields. This translation of it also happens to be a good example of crystal goblet typography.
When reading this book the font and the typeface automatically seem to fade away allowing for the story and the meaning of the text to come through.
Its completely not distracting and subtle which allows the reader to enjoy the content.
The pages of the book are almost completely filled but yet are still easy to read. In addition it has very simple introductions to paragraphs and chapters.
By looking at this example of crystal goblet typography I have a concrete example of how to layout my pages and what typeface to select to achieve maximum translucency in the text.
