Magazine : Slanted : 31 - Tokyo
Slanted is Berlin based award-winning print magazine, covering international developments in design and culture twice a year as well as other design-related projects and publications in the field of typography, contemporary art, and design.
The magazine is separated into two different sections, the first being visual and graphic works and the second being interview and essays. The grid chosen for this blog post was picked out in the second half.
The font used is _, and is contemporary sans-serif grotesque typeface.
I Believe the layout and the grid used to facilitate the reading with its consistency. It doesn't feel as charged that much even though there is a lot of text in each page. The size of the pages works well with the two columns grid system. The Justified text and Center Sub-Headers in bold create a certain pause between each paragraph.
This magazine has already strongly influenced me in past projects and will continue even more with the essays in it about typography and contemporary graphic design, and will influence the format part of the current project due to its use of different paper and single colour pages other than black or white.
