Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky follows the story of one of the most remarkable characters in literature, the unnamed narrator is a former official who has defiant withdrawn into an underground existence. In full retreat from society, he scrawls a passionate, obsessive, self-contradictory narrative that serves as a devastating attack on social utopianism and an assertion of man's essentially irrational nature.

The design of the cover intrigues by using very simple shapes to make up the silhouette of a man with the title of the book and author overlapping. Although it is a rather dense reading, the typographic layout invites the reader to immerse themselves into Dostoevsky's existentialist and satirical writing.
