Magazine: MacGuffin — The Life of Things

The grid system in this magazine is simple, flexible and optimized. It is a horizontal six-column and vertical eleven-row grid. With a font size of 10pt with a line spacing of 13pt, the sentence has a height of 54 lines. The layout varies between a one-, two- and three-column grid. The smallest unit has a width of 5p6 and a height of 4p4.

The fonts used are the «Churchward Newstype» (an Egyptine or Slab Serif) on the one hand and the «Gothic725 Bd BT» (a Transitional Sans Serif) on the other. In my opinion this is a very interesting mix because it is a very good combination of a very modern with more traditional font. It seems timeless.

In this grid, the objects (in this case, images, illustrations and graphics) can be positioned very flexible. As simple as it is, it can still be used dynamically. It shows well that this grid is not too «immobile». In my opinion this is a very good grid system for the medium of a magazine.
