Brazil Le Cinéma Sans Conces

The typefaces used in this piece are Univers Pro Cyrillic 47 Condensed Light which is the majority of the text. Golary Red Exbo Caps is used for the bolded text on the top right corner of the right page and the left side of the left page.

This is a feature in the french film magazine “Brazil Le Cinéma Sans Conces” . This feature covers the 30 minute film “Tenebrae” by Reza Benhadj. The targeted audience is for those who enjoy film especially independent and foreign films which don’t get that much publicity in popular media.

The layout design caught my eyes right away due to its use of a grid system. The grid system used is very pleasant to the eyes in the sense that it is very organized and allows the reader to feel at ease while reading. The use of images to separate paragraphs helps keep the reader interested as well. The images follow a similar colour scheme which allows the layout to remain pleasant. The typography used for the majority of the text is clean and simple hence does not distract the reader. The use of the bold capitalized segments are an interesting design tactic which i personally find very appealing.

This will help influence my own creative work because the use of grid system in this magazine is both simple and different. The simplicity is ideal since it is meant for someone to read but the use of interesting bold detailing gives the layout a unique design. I would like to incorporate modest but distinct designs into my work as well.
