Buster Keaton by David Robinson is the tenth and final segment in the Cinema One Biographical Series. The series focuses on break-through film artists, and that notion is conveyed right off the bat with the front cover. It is evident that the book is about film before there is a need to read the words: "Buster Keaton". The title is shaped in the form of film credits and wraps around to the back like a roll of film. The book's margins give significant room for the readers thumb to control the book, a necessary and helpful feature in order to analyze the many included photographs. The photographs and text blocks are marginally aligned, creating a relationship between the two, which aids the intention to convey that the text is referencing the photograph shown. The typographical layout was designed by Michael Farrel, who clearly understood the content of the book. The typography transparently acts as a backing to the book's content, and encourages the reader to engage. All of these typographic features will be considered as I make my way into the realm of creating typography.
