Art Matters is Hiring
The typeface used appears to have a base of a sans serif in all capitals, with a layer on top that aims to fill in parts of each letter. The overlapping layers make it difficult to distinguish the exact typeface as it cannot be seen clearly.
This is an informative poster aimed to attract readers to inquire about the subject matter. Because of the typeface used, it is difficult to understand the message that is trying to be conveyed. An informative poster is usually located in a designated area such as a clipboard, along with multiple other posters surrounding the one. With many posters in one area, one may not be bothered to take the time to read every one of them, only the few that pop out most and that are easier for the eye to read. Although this poster may standout because of its interesting typeface, it still may not get the amount of attention needed as it is not easily legible.
The layout in this poster is what holds it all together, it is formatted in a way so that the important message is what can mainly be seen at a quick glance. Even if the font choice is not the best, the poster's main goal is achieved most with this layout. If the typeface was smaller, it may not be legible, and if the text were placed somewhere other than the middle, the message would not be as clear; the audience may get confused as to what they are looking at, if there even is text, or just blobs of green.
After seeing this case of bad typography, I will always remember to never make an informative poster too decorative as it may be distracting, and may also take away from the main message wanting to be delivered. Along with this, I will keep in mind the usage of big, centered font as a means to well deliver content.
