Apartmento Grid System

Apartmento is one of my favourite magazines visually, I couldn't pick just one spread. They are a magazine that show artists lived spaces, with interviews about the artists work and life. They aren't afraid to be colourful and go off the standard grid often.

Apartmento uses ITC Clearface(serif) for a majority of the text and Futura(san serif) some of the times depending on the mood of the article. https://fontsinuse.com/uses/6839/apartamento-magazine

The magazine is made for other artists and creative or maybe academics who want to read more about the lifestyle of interesting people in their natural form. It is an expensive magazine for collecting, and the spines change pattern depending on the year of their release so that you can collect a shelf in unison. Its made for the rich by the successful, either way its nice to buy and dream of possible future spaces to inhabit. A little voyeuristic.

The typography is usually in one or two coloums depending on the interview. Its title is mid page with text both above and below the title. As seen in the second image, Apartmento expieraments with coloured text depending on the interview to match the aesthetic of the artist/person being interviewed. The text used, ITC Clearface, gives the illusion that it is a magazine printed in the 90's or sometime in my childhood and is very comforting. This allows for an easy read. Also the borders are always exxagerated and it helps frame the text, and allow space for the density of words.

This will influence the use of colour in printing, as it is a way to accentuate important parts of the text. I also love how the use of colouring the pages with coloured font offers something different than the normal reading experience.
