abracadabra

the deeper you go, the worse the type

This typeface is used for Diane Duane's novel "Deep Wizardry", the third in the series entitled Young Wizards.

This typeface is similar to that of a transitional serif mixed with a glyphs serif, though I'm not sure of the specific typeface used.

The object in question is a children's fantasy novel, which can be seen as reflected in the slight whimsical, out of the ordinary nature of the font presented.

The font choice and layout is weak in general, in my honest opinion. The kerning in the word "deep" in comparison to "wizardry" is off-putting and unnatural. Also note how the the kerning between the 'iz' of "wizardry" is nearly non-existent in comparison to between 'rd'. The 'W' of "wizardry" looks like that of many difference logos already in use. The curvature of the tail of the serif is inconsistent as it appears on some letters and not others. The word "Deep" has one capitalized letter while the word "WIZARDRY" is solely in capital letters. There's been a choice to have the words in different colours, "deep" in white whilst "wizardry" is in black but with a white shadow.

This will influence my own creative work as it has inspired me to never do something so horrendous.
